About Us
The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Communities DWBDNC) was constituted on February 21, 2019, to address the unique needs of marginalized communities in India. Historically, these communities faced exclusion and marginalization, including being labeled under the Criminal Tribes Act of 1871. Following the repeal of this Act, DWBDNC continues the government's efforts towards their rehabilitation and empowerment. We focus on addressing the challenges faced by these communities. Our mission is to provide support and services, promoting social and economic empowerment, and ensuring these communities receive the support they deserve.
Our Initiatives
DWBDNC oversees programs like the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED), providing economic support and welfare services to these communities. The four components of the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs are
- I. Educational Empowerment (through government and non-government agencies)
- II. Health (through PMJAY of NHA)
- III. Livelihood (through NRLM, SRLMs, other government and non-government agencies)
- IV. Land and housing (through PMAY-G, PMAY-U, other government schemes)
