The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Communities DWBDNC) was constituted on February 21, 2019, to address the unique needs of marginalized communities in India. Historically, these communities faced exclusion and marginalization, including being labeled under the Criminal Tribes Act of 1871. Following the repeal of this Act, DWBDNC continues the government's efforts towards their rehabilitation and empowerment. We focus on addressing the challenges faced by these communities. Our mission is to provide support and services, promoting social and economic empowerment, and ensuring these communities receive the support they deserve.
The Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED) is a program overseen by DWBDNC to provide economic support and welfare services to De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Communities.
The Scheme has been formulated with four components that affect their livelihood. The four component of the SEED scheme are:
The eligibility criteria for the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED) is primarily based on income and community status. The scheme is for DNT (De-notified Tribes), NT (Nomadic Tribes), and SNT (Semi-Nomadic Tribes) communities.
Only students belonging to DNT communities with an annual family income of rupees 8 lakh or less per annum and not availing any such benefits from similar Central or State government will be eligible schemes.
The scheme is implemented by DWBDNC in collaboration with designated agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
