From the year 2014-15, the Central Government has implemented specific schemes for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities.Overviews of some of the schemes and initiatives are given below:
Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Education in School for OBC, EBC and DNT Students.
The objective of the scheme is to provide premium education in top reputed schools, shortlisted by the Central Govt. to the meritorious students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT categories by funding their education from Class 9 onwards till they complete Class 12. The selection process of the students is based on an All India YASASVI Entrance Test and scholarship will be disbursed through the National Scholarship Portal.
Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Education in College for OBC, EBC and DNT Students.
The objective of the scheme is to recognize and promote quality education amongst Students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT categories in premium Institutes by providing full financial support. The Scheme will cover OBC/EBC/DNT students for pursuing studies beyond class XlI th.
Assistance for Skill Development of OBCs/DNTs/EBCs
The aim of the scheme is to involve the voluntary and skilling sector, through National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), to improve educational and socio economic conditions of the target group i.e. OBCs/DNTs/EBCs etc. by way of upgrading their skill to enable them to start income generating activities on their own or get gainfully employed in some sector or the other. The Government of India meets 90% of the approved expenditure of the training programme. The scheme was revised in 2017-18 to bring focus on various skill development training programmes in line with the common norms issued by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Central Sector Scheme of National Overseas Scholarship
The Central Sector Scheme of National Overseas Scholarship is to facilitate the low income students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisans category to obtain higher education viz., Master degree or Ph. D courses by studying abroad thereby improving their Economic and Social status.
The Scheme provides financial assistance to the selected candidates for pursuing Masters level courses and Ph.D. courses abroad in the Institutions/Universities accredited by the Government/an authorized body of that country in any fields of study. 30% of the awards for each year are earmarked for women candidates.
During Selection Year 2023-24, 06 Awards are reserved for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes.

Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) - Ministry of Tribal Affairs
Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) imparts quality education to children in remote areas in order to enable them to avail of opportunities in high and professional educational courses and get employment in various sectors. The schools focus not only on academic education but on the all-round development of the students. It caters to students from Class VI to XII.
There is a reservation of 5% for children belonging to the DNT/NT/SNT community. 3 seats out of 60 seats per class are reserved for DNT/NT/SNTs.
